To provide you and your family with extra protection, you have the option to purchase income protection insurance through the Fund's insurer. This means just that, if you were to be injured or become ill and were unable to work for a minimum of three months, you would be entitled to receive a regular income from the Fund (commencing after three months) that is up to 75% of your super salary for a period of up to two years.
This amount is payable while you remain temporarily disabled, for a maximum of two years up to age 65. The benefit will be reduced by any other sickness or accident benefits, or any other employment related income (e.g. sick pay) you may receive.
If you purchase income protection insurance, the fee will be deducted from your superannuation account.
The insurance company will review your application for cover and may ask you for more information. They reserve the right to refuse or grant income protection.
Income protection insurance is only available to Accumulation members who are permanent employees of Incitec Pivot and working at least 15 hours per week.
